Review:

Director Andrés Muschietti brings more thrill and horror to the big screen and nicely wraps up the classic story of “IT” by Stephen King. In “Chapter Two” we see the original members of the Losers’ Club all grown up and living their own lives.

When the evil that is Pennywise makes his return, it does not take long for Mike to find out. With the knowledge that Pennywise is back, Mike calls upon the former members of the Losers’ Club to put a stop to the evil being for good.

This movie gave a real sense of home with the closeness and bonding between the grown-up characters. With all the action-packed scenes, suspenseful moments, hilarious lines thrown in, and rebuilding of character arcs, this film was a whirlwind of emotion. Every scene had you on the edge of your seat or gripping the arm of the person next to you. Muschietti executed the use of flashbacks phenomenally by bringing back the child actors from the first film to show where the kids went after the movie.

Even with the film having a running time of almost three hours, every minute of it is a wild ride. The actors represented their character arcs well and showed how they have grown or reverted back to the people they once were. Every second of it added an important detail to the character or to the film; every scene grew the audience’s rising anticipation of what would happen next. The timeline could be difficult for some viewers what with the constant setting change, flashbacks, and different types of lighting to accompany each setting and place in time.

Although the timeline presented a minor issue with the movie’s flow, “IT Chapter Two” was done well overall and had many exciting elements to it. It is definitely worth sitting through its impressive running time.
