With a great season and great players, the Tigard varsity girls basketball team continued to use their unstoppable defense to their advantage to pull out a win in the first round of state playoffs.  The final score read 49-19.

The game was tight in the beginning, but the Tigard girls stomped over McNary once they got into a steady rhythm. After the first quarter, Tigard held McNary with a  15-7 lead.

In the second quarter McNary was not able to get past Tigard’s unstoppable defense. At halftime, the Tigers advanced 22-7 .

“Lexi Carter and Elise Conroy had a great game,” said senior Melissa Keenan.

However, McNary came out weak and  “all the dressed down swingers got to play,” said Keenan.

With a 49-19 win, the Tigard girls will move onto the second round of playoffs on Friday (March 7) against Jesuit.
