The talented students of Tigard high school spring into this year’s Spring play, Our Town, which will take place on May 2, 3, and 4. The auditions took place on Monday, March 4 through Friday, March 8 in the THS auditorium. Callbacks were held on Wednesday, March 6 and the second callbacks were on Friday, March 8; both were held after school in the auditorium.
“I thought the auditions went well and I felt pretty good about them,” said freshman Mallory Matheson, who was later called for both callbacks. “The overall experience of auditioning, callbacks, and the play is what I’m looking forward to most,” stated Matheson
“The auditions were fantastic! I was so impressed with how prepared the students were and how ready they were to audition,” said drama teacher and director Mr. Hermanson.
There were many people that auditioned this year, including senior Madelynn Pedersen, “Tigard normally does a lot of comedies, so it’s nice to do something different,” stated Pedersen, “Whether by enjoying parts of life or finding love, this year’s play touches your heart.”
Along with Pederson, senior Nicholas White is returning to the stage and is ready for the experience, “I’m excited to apply all of the skills I have learned in high school and put them all into my final performance.”
The expected leads are seniors Cameron Johnson, Madelynn Pedersen, Margaret Johnson, Nicholas Bussey, Nicholas White, Rachel Cooper, and Samuel Richmann.
“I directed this play 16 years ago here at Tigard and it is a 75 year old play that never gets old,” said Hermanson.
