What some may not know is that the reason for kids staying up late and getting up early is due to their biological programing. There are many positive things that could come with schools having school start at a later time, for example; researchers found enhancements in in attendance, daytime alertness, and a decrease in depression. Due to the bulk of school starting between 7-8 a.m. the National Sleep Foundation found that the majority of teens don’t get the recommended amount of sleep of 8 1/2 to 9 1/2 hours of sleep per night. Not only teens can be frustrated due to their sleepiness but the teacher find it frustrating having students fall asleep in their classroom
