The wonderful lights of the The Grotto’s 25th annual Christmas Festival of Lights lit up many children’s eyes on Monday, Dec. 17. The worlds largest Christmas choral festival, located in Portland off of Sandy Blvd, will be open from Nov. 23 to Dec. 30. Dec. 17 was Tigard’s night to shine. Families from all over gathered in the magical place to enjoy festivities such as puppet shows and a petting zoo. Along with getting to view the festival’s more than half a million lights, the crowd was also treated with songs from some of the region’s best schools. Tigard high was among those schools honored to perform in the Chapel of Mary, famous for its cathedral quality acoustics.
The night of music began with Parkrose United Methodist Church Chancel Choir and Bells at 5:15 p.m. They were then followed by Parkrose High school at 6 p.m. At 7 p.m. Tigard high took the stage and sung their hearts out for the audience. Their performance contained three solos, including The First Noel sung by Leanne Stanton. In addition to this, a beautiful duet, a trio and other correlations had the chance to amaze the audience, earning a Grotto full of applause. The night continued with the Kings Way Christian High School Choir at 8 p.m. and the Unistus Chamber Choir at 9 p.m.for all the families and THS students there enjoying the show. The carolers carried away with joy and arose the sparkling atmosphere which truly made it a night to remember.
