The Tigard Tigers put a lot of effort on the field tonight in order to beat the Newberg Tigers. Not only did Tigard win, but they dominated with a score of 3-0.
“It was an excellent performance,” said Head Coach Tracy Hasson. “We kept the ball, worked hard and put out a complete effort.”
The three goals that Tigard scored were by senior Sean Mcmanamon and junior Sinan Raja in the first half and junior Alex Figueroa-Gutierrez in the second half.
“I am really proud of the team,” said Figueroa. “I am so happy we won and even happier that we won by three goals.”
Besides scoring, Tigard also kept Newberg from scoring. Newberg took many shots on goalie senior Jonathan Mercado-Villanueva, but they never actually scored because of Tigard’s defense.
“The Tigard Tigers looked like they physically dominated the entire game while having fun in a 3-0 win against Newberg,” said sophomore Nicholas Gonzalez, who was watching the soccer game.
So the Tigard Tigers gave it their all tonight and the coaches and players hope that they can carry that effort and skill over to next game.
