The crowd cheered loudly tonight as the Tigard volleyball team creamed the Jaguars. The game was held at Century High School Tuesday night.
In the first game, the Tigers played well enough to win, but not well enough to get a big lead on Century. The score of the first game ended up being 20-25.
“I am really proud of the team. We all had confidence in ourselves to win and I think that is part of the reason why we played so well,” said senior outside hitter Lindsey Rosette who had a total of 18 kills.
In the second game, Century picked it up a little. However, it was not enough to win. The ref helped with that too. She called several net violations and doubles on Century. Giving the Tigers a tiny boost, Tigard won 25-23.
“We definitely lost some confidence in the second game when we should have gained it, but it was fine because we won anyways,” said junior right side hitter Ashley Holzgang.
In the third game, Tigard was the team that picked up the pace. They won 25-17 with the help of senior Michelle Simmons’s blocks, sophomore Cassie Erickson’s hits and senior Kelcy Mullaly’s digs.
“The Tigers played really well tonight but more importantly, they worked hard and kept the energy level up so I was really proud of them,” said assistant coach Emma Miller.
Overall, the Tigers played well enough to beat Century tonight, but at the next game they hope to gain more confidence and fans cheering them on in the stands.
