The Tigerettes made their first winter season appearance at Canby’s Winter Festival of Dance on Sat Jan 26. It was the first time the team debuted their state routine which they have been working on since December. The routine is a sultry jazz piece to the James Bond theme song and Live and Let Die by Paul McCartney. Their state theme is Femme Fatal, which remained a secret up until Saturday.
With only half of their routine finished the Tigerettes were in first place after the first round, however the scores between the first and third place teams were only in a one point range. Wanting to pull ahead by widening the gap; Tigard raised almost all their scores during the second round. Their highest score difference was in projection, which they raised from a 76 to an 84. In the end, Tigard placed first in the 6A division with an overall score of 77 beating Gresham High School and Lakeridge High School.
The team is hoping to finish their routine and make many changes by their their next competition at Parkrose High School and will be back at practice starting tomorrow. You can watch their routine here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5BCnmGGoK0&feature=youtu.be
