Tigard vs. Tualatin varsity boys basketball rivalry game on Friday, Jan. 11th in the THS main gym was an intense two hours for both sides. From the beginning, both teams had high energy and quick ball skills. Tigard consisted of sharp passes and layups, while TuHS mainly shot from outside. At the end of the first quarter the score was 19-14 with Tigard in the lead. Tualatin continued to shoot three pointers and kept with the pace Tigard had set. Tigard bolted ahead at the end of the half with the score 46-29. In the third quarter, the tension grew as both teams came back even stronger. THS fans had the bleachers filled with Tigard pride and kept the team going with their intensity. Tualatin pushed hard bringing the speed of the game to a new level, but Tigard remained in the lead. It was 60-45 going into the fourth and final quarter. Tigard was on fire throughout the whole fourth quarter and continued to pass well together. In the end of the Battle of the Beasts it was the Tigard Tigers that pulled out with a win ending the game 78-59. “I was so proud of my Tigard Tigers tonight! They took down toilet town,” said junior Melissa Keenan about the game.
