The Tigard Tigers varsity football team is looking to end this year with a bang. Tigard (7-1) is looking to finish the season with another win at home against struggling Forest Grove (2-6). The Tigers have looked very impressive this year with their only loss of the season coming from a missed field goal in the final minutes against Aloha.
Beating rival Tualatin 41-0 and last week beating Newberg 76-35 with a strong effort from running back Zach Floyd with 5 rushes for 98 yards and 2 touchdowns. Meanwhile Forest Grove is coming off an impressive 24-16 win against Hillsboro.
Coach Ruecker’s gamplan is simple “Take advantage of what the defense gives us, if they blitz we will pass the ball, if they play zone, we will run at them…Simple.” The Tigers are looking to clinch the Pacific Conference with this win going 6-0.
Forest Grove is looking to stop the three headed monster of running back’s Zach Floyd, Benny Wick, and Kaz Greene; who have led the way for Tigard along with strong play from their defense and also quarterback Jett Even. Two key injuries on Tigard are Martin Stringer and Chance Taylor. We will see if the Tigers can finish the regular season strong and have momentum entering the start of the state playoffs.
