Tigard High School’s girls varsity soccer played a high energetic game versus Rex Putnam on Tuesday, September 18 at the THS soccer turf at 7 pm. From the start Tigard had a positive attitude and continued to play a passing game with a lot of give and go’s. Junior Erin Graham attempted to assist Freshman Natalie Bryant in the first twenty minutes but she was called offsides. Tigard continued to take shots but Putnam’s goalie wouldn’t let anything get past her. With only sixteen minutes left Putnam scores which leads Tigard to amp up their energy. Only two minutes after Putnam scored Junior Emily Cincotta scores off a cross from Junior Kyla Smart making the score tied 1-1 at the end of the first half.
Both teams came out enthusiastic and ready to win but it’s Tigard who scores in the beginning of the second half by Junior Kyla Smart. Putnam continues to push as they pick up their speed. With only twenty seven minutes to go Junior Danielle Gedusky is tackled when fighting for the ball and is escorted off the field with possible injury. The pressure increases as the clock runs down, but it’s Tigard who maintains possession of the ball and pulls out with a win with final score 2-1.
