The Tigerettes dance team will be competing at their last fall competition of the 2011- 2012 season on Saturday Nov. 12 at Clackamas High School.
They will will be competing the same routines that they did at Gladstone last weekend, (pom, lyrical, and jazz) but are cleaning, polishing and making minor changes to the pieces at practice this week. Their goals are to receive an overall higher score in all areas, especially in projection, which is the team’s biggest weakness. Projection scores can be earned by simply keeping your chin up and doing facials throughout the routine. The team also wishes to improve their precision and technical skills.
“Our number one goal is to improve every time we go out to compete. I feel that our hard work will pay off at Clackamas and we will rock that gym with confidence and class, like we do every time,” said senior Elena Tate.
This week, the team is also facing many obstacles that do not involve dancing, such as sickness, injuries and struggles with grades, but they hope to push past these challenges and be on their top game.
Tigard is the third team to perform during the first round, which starts at 11 a.m.. They will also be competing in jazz near the end of the round. Lyrical will take place during the second round beginning at 3 p.m.. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students, ticket price includes both rounds.
