Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011 Tigard volleyball played their first game for playoffs. Although they did not win they fought a fierce battle against Thurston. Their first game was a close 17-25, Tigers stepped it up a little more during the second game but despite their better teamwork they lost by six points (19-25).
Making a tough comeback, tigers won the third game with a score of 25-18 after a little game of catch-up. Both teams giving their all, Thurston barely defeated Tigard with an ending score of 21-25 in the fourth game.
Despite the loss, the game was a good show of companionship, teamwork and leadership from all the players. For seniors Kylee Rosette, Hannah Coursolle, Bonnie Blood, Kassandra Coker, and Sam Debenedetti, this was a tough ending to an overall fun season.
“We haven’t been able to get through the first round in our past three attempts,” said coach Robert Coelho in regard to playoffs in previous seasons. “We’ve had strong senior leadership this year and I am really proud of how the girls competed this season!”
