The Tigard High men’s varsity soccer team had their first home game Sept 13, against Glencoe High School. Coming off with a 6-0 win against Century High School the Tigers expected to breeze through their home game.
“We are very excited about our game tonight, and we expect a win,” Alex White, caption of the men’s soccer team said, when asked about his thoughts on the outcome of the game. “Hopefully we all play our best.”
Unfortunately no one played to their top potential, and after one half the score was tied.
The game consisted of some questionable calls, and some great saves by the Tigard goalkeeper and senior, Alberto Amaya. The score remained 1-1 until about two minutes left in the second half, when Glencoe scored again. No one scored after that, and the Tigard Tigers lost their first game of the season. 2-1.
“We don’t blame anyone but ourselves,” Alex White said. “We have to do better, tonight was so disappointing.”
