If the classic horror film of “Carrie” gave you the chills then the remake will leave you sleeping with the nightlight on. The remake sticks to the original story line of a young and shy outcast known as Carrie White who uses her telekinetic powers to strike revenge on her peers after they pull a terrible prank on her at Prom. Director Kimberly Peirce worked hard to find a cast that fit the roles of Carrie and her strictly religious mother, Margaret, and succeeded when finding the talented actresses Chloe Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore to play the leads.
When compared to the original film, the remake rarely steers far from the story line but does include a few twists along the way to excite it’s audience. Not only are the frightening effects even better, but the overall experience of the movie is much more chilling than the original. Even though the remake included a few twists throughout the movie; it stuck very closely to the classic which made those who knew the storyline waiting for a dramatic twist in the end. So, for those who have seen the original movie, the remake did it justice but did not live up to the hype of a horror remake. Overall, “Carrie” was casted and designed very well but did not leave me at the edge of my seat like so many other horror movie remakes.
