Students work hard to meet deadlines for scholarships
Scholarships help students pay for college, whether the amount is big or small. Prices can range from hundreds to thousands of dollars, all adding up to help students pay for room, board, and tuition.
Senior Erin Graham says she is, “applying for scholarships based on community service because of all of the mission trips [she] has been on to help those in need.”
The T.H.S. website offers a scholarship database with local featured scholarships that many previous Tigard students have received money for. Ranging from Student Athlete of the Year to L.G.B.T. to Merit scholarships to academics and diverse ethnicity, this website offers a portal of scholarships that every Tigard student can apply for.
Note that some of these scholarships require you to take a trip to the Career Center for information on them.
Senior Ben White explains how he is, “applying for all the random ones,” and also, :all the ones that apply to [him].”
Senior Alan Hernandez agrees, “[he] has been applying for scholarships specifically for Hispanics, so [he] has been doing a lot of those.”
These database scholarships range between $1,000 to $10,000. They are listed in the order of when the deadline is. The current scholarships that are available have deadlines ranging from Jan. 8 through March 31.
