Have you ever always wanted to experience Latin culture but just didn’t have the chance to? Then Latin Night is the perfect event for you!
Run by the Spanish National Honor Society, Latin Night will be full of many activities! There will be face painting, three Latin dance performances and dance lessons by Satin and Latin Dance Studio, craft tables for the little ones to enjoy, and a live DJ. Food will also be available from Qdoba! A raffle will also be taking place.
Admission to get in is $5 and an extra donation is optional. All proceeds will be going to Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), an organization to help Hispanic students get legal citizenship.
“They don’t have a way to get a driving permit or a way to get identification,” says Spanish teacher Tymi Montgomery, “It costs up to $600.” Montgomery hopes to raise enough money to help sponsor more than one student.
Latin Night will be taking place at the Tigard High School cafeteria on October 26th from 6pm to 9pm. “[This event] is going to be super fun,” exclaims senior Keenan Cabrera, member of the SNHS. “It’s also for a great cause.”
