Today students gathered together around a table in the commons to put their blue hand prints on a poster, making a pledge to peace.
To celebrate human rights week, each day this week has been given a theme. Monday was a day of respect, Tuesday was a pledge to peace, and Wednesday was participation. Each day is supported by different clubs. Some of Wednesday’s clubs included both Sparrow and Yes Clubs. Students were able to support the idea of participation at the Human Rights assembly on Wednesday. The assembly included a special video and also Human Rights awards. Valentines Day also encouraged unity, and Friday will support both dignity and justice.
On each of these days during lunch students can visit the commons and continue to paint their hands and pledge to follow and support the theme that means most to them. The posters will then be hung around the school to commemorate the week to encourage students to be “stronger together, united forever.”
