Every year, the state recognizes schools based on academic criteria, and rates them as either needing improvement, being satisfactory, or being outstanding. Year to year, schools are rated on their academic growth, graduation rates, attendance rates, and discipline rates. Last Wednesday, Oct. 10, Tigard High School was named an outstanding school on the Oregon Report Card.
In previous years, academic growth was determined by testing each class their junior year. Because of this, it was difficult to track growth. This year, the formula was changed so now each class is tested their 8th grade and their junior year to better track growth.
This award says a lot for THS’s committed teachers and staff who work hard. A lot of credit goes to these teachers and staff for the growth at THS.
