The Stop Tigard Underage Drinking (STUD) club is hosting a forum educating students and parents about drugs and alcohol at Fowler Middle School this Wednesday in the spacious Fowler commons.
The forum will begin at 6:30 p.m. this Wednesday night and end around 8:00 p.m. STUD hopes to entertain and pull in audiences with facts, skits, and table discussions concerning drug & alcohol use, communication with parents, and peer pressure.
“The forum is meant to address issues surrounding parents and students communicating about peer pressure, drugs, and alcohol,” said STUD leader Connie Jolley.
The STUD club has been working hard for months preparing for this forum, which the Fowler PSO asked the club to host.
“It plants a seed and sparks conversation which really needs to happen,” says Jolley.
Many teachers are offering extra credit for attending this event, so if you have an interest in attending, talk to your teacher about it.
“I think it’s hard to come from it not learning something new. Kids care and learn new things,” says Jolley.
