As stated in the Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook, drugs of any kind are prohibited on campus. Try as our teachers might, this problem is still an issue, with drugs like marijuana finding its way into our hallways.
For this reason, security is bringing in a dog to sniff out any illegal substances that could possibly be within our school limits. This dog will be taken around the school to sniff out student lockers.
These canines are not only limited to school property. Searches can include facilities, parking lots, equipment, and buildings. The dog will not be allowed to search a student, though, unless he/she seems to be posing a threat.
Although there is no certain date, later in the year the dog will come to Tigard High in order to ensure a cleaner and safer environment for us students.
