The tenth annual Shakespeare Competition will take place Thursday, Jan. 26 after school in the choir room. The winner will represent our school in the statewide competition, which is in February. There is also a national competition on Lincoln Center Stage in New York City. Three students of THS have progressed to national level, including Robert Till, who graduated last year.
To enter, see Mr. Wilson in Room 227 in the upper rotunda and fill out a small slip with your contact information. You must perform a monologue, 20 lines or fewer, from any of William Shakespeare’s plays. On the day of the competition, bring a copy of your monologue and give it to the judges. The competition usually lasts from 3 to 4 p.m., and is judged by members of our own staff, including Mr. Wilson himself.
Mr. Wilson is currently asking staff members to volunteer to judge the competition. You do not need to have theatrical or Shakespearian experience to judge, he will give you some guidelines on what to look for when picking the winning monologue.
