The Caring Closet, an organization that helps provide clothing and other necessities for families in need, is holding a five kilometer walk/run this Saturday, Oct. 29. at 8:30 a.m.. Parents and children are encouraged to come, in costume, to celebrate Halloween while also supporting this great cause.
It costs $5 per person, but the family rate is $15. There will be pumpkin spice muffins and fruit to enjoy before or after you walk, and if your kids don’t want to run, Disney’s “Monsters, Inc.” is going to be playing inside.
Anyone who wants to participate is asked to meet at the flagpole in front of the Caring Closet portable, possibly in costume and ready to walk or run to support this cause.
The Caring Closet has already served almost 400 families this year, and they need your contributions to continue this excellence. Even if you can’t make this great fundraiser, the Caring Closet always accepts donations.
Program director Debra Tate says they are completely cleaned out of bar soap and shampoo, and grade-school sized clothing is almost out as well. If you have any of these items laying around, don’t hesitate to donate them.
“Put on those walking (or running) shoes and let’s make a difference!” said Tate.
