Hurricane Sandy left thousands in the eastern United States devastated in late October, and millions of dollars will be spent to repair the damage it left behind. Organizations such as Red Cross are raising money to help with the repairs, junior Madelaine Au is joining the movement of relief for the victims by putting on an art auction.
“For a long time I have wanted to make an impact in the world. When Hurricane Sandy hit the east coast I was horrified by the destruction. One of my best friends was going to school in the east and she was effected by the hurricane. Her dorm flooded and I wondered to myself, how can I help?” said Au.
The “Flooded With Art” auction will be held in the Tigard High commons on Dec. 21 from 7 to 9 p.m. All proceeds of the auction will go directly to Red Cross disaster relief support. Art has been donated from students, teachers, parents, and vendors from the Saturday Market. If you are interested in donating art, contact Madelaine Au.
