The THS Theater Department is starting the year off with a brilliant show. “As You Like It” is a romantic comedy directed by Jane Fellows, known for substituting theater teacher Todd Hermanson’s classes in the past. She has really worked with the students on character building and it absolutely showed.
The cast included many students both new and returning who helped to bring the show to life. The tech crew who were in charge of music, lights, and other things did a good job too. The lighting really enhanced the mood of the show.
The play was written in a Shakespearean dialect and includes a few music bits, along with wrestling scenes. Following the path of lovers searching for their other half, the witt of the play earned some laughs and the actors really did an outstanding job. The emotion they put in to their parts was so real! The students became more than just characters when they stepped onto the stage. They became real people. The audience pitied the hopeless lovers and laughed at how they were head over heels.
I can’t wait to see upcoming shows like “Good Doctor” and “Our Town.” The Theater Department will surely do them justice. Find time to see the play on Thursday or Friday at 7:30 p.m., or Saturday at either 3 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. It will be eight dollars per person.
And yes, we liked it!
