This year’s Tigard Balloon Festival, happening from June 20-22, will be staffed by volunteers from the community, as well as many athletes from Tigard High.
Last year, THS’s girls soccer, football, cheer, and tennis teams raised money by volunteering their summer hours to the festival.
Tigard girls tennis raised $300-400 dollars last year, which, according to Kelsey Wahl, girls tennis coach, helped fund replacing or updating the team’s gear during the spring 2025 season.
The boys soccer team made $1200 dollars during the 2024 festival, which typically goes toward purchasing equipment, uniforms, or snacks for the team.
While volunteering for the festival has benefited THS teams, there are some rules that all volunteers are required to follow.
Students must recognize that they represent the school and be 15 years of age to volunteer for the festival.
