THS Publications organized the third annual “Hot Ones” Challenge, which was filmed on Wed., May 28 and presented live during 2nd lunch on Thurs., May 29. 

The reasoning behind the separate events was to allow more participants, and to test out the video format, according to Sophia Simonetti, senior and publications student who organized the event.

Participants received random questions and were prompted to answer after taking a sizable bite out of 1 of 7 wings, which increased in spice level as the rounds progressed. The point system was constructed around not drinking milk, eating bread, or skipping questions. Points are gained by answering questions and eating the wing, with an added competitive factor of staff versus student. 

The participants during the recorded challenge were Tamir Holloman, Kaitlyn Bynum, Evy Polivka, and Nataly Escutia Gomez.

The live version of the challenge was emceed by Moss Weigel and participants were Jenn Tiernan, John Hohm, Geoffery Jarman, Melissa Baran, and Samuel Ilsley competing on the staff team, while Jose Salas, Farag Abdelkadir, Sophia Simonetti, and Olivia Fujiwara competed on the senior student team.
