Describe your job in 50 words or less

My various duties include assisting students, parents & community members in whatever capacity is needed such as helping with Student & Parent Vue accounts, Naviance, Student records, Transcripts, organize Scholarships and organize the Senior Graduation Awards Assembly and assisting counselors and other office staff with whatever comes up for that day.

What’s your favorite part of working at Tigard? Why?

I feel very connected to THS not only because I have worked here since 2008, but both of my children graduated from THS, Chelsea in 2010 and Jake in 2014. They were both very involved in school and I love that THS has lots of opportunities for students to be involved in clubs, athletics, etc.

What can/do students do that makes you happy?

What makes me happy is to see and hear students treat each other with kindness and empathy – that’s all I ask, that students take into consideration other student’s feelings and when I see that kind of connection, my heart is full.

What’s the funniest, coolest, weirdest, etc. thing a student has ever said to you?

There are so many things I don’t know where to start, but one thing that stands out is actually what a parent said – I had a sign on my desk that said “Joy” she thought that was my name and proceeded to say – Joy, can you please help me. I don’t know, it just struck me as being funny – especially since my full name plate was front and center.

Is there anything else you think we should know about you for classified staff appreciation week?

I appreciate being appreciated! But truly feel blessed to work at THS.
