Although their high school football careers are over, seven Tigard athletes have taken a gigantic step on National Signing Day by committing to play football in college. Justin Lyons, Brock Klosterman, Ryan Worthley, Ryan Minniti, Jash Allen, Jordan Fullerton, and Jared Stewart  signed on Feb. 1.

Lyons and Klosterman have both committed to Linfield College. Linfield is a Division 3 school that has a very successful football program. Holding up an outstanding 61 consecutive winning season records, they have performed extraordinarily over the years.

Worthley, Minniti, Allen, and Fullerton are all commits to Western Oregon University. Western Oregon University is Division 2. Our four athletes are a part of the 31 high school athletes that Western Oregon University has signed as of Feb. 1.

Stewart committed to play football at George Fox University. George Fox University is also a Division 3 school. The George Fox football team came in third in their conference last year, behind Linfield College. Both colleges have had strong seasons over the years, with both teams finishing with winning records this past 2016 football season.

National Signing Day signifies the beginning of the students’ college careers and future in football. From playing on the same team for several of years, the students will be required to play former teammates and play with some of the best football players in the US. We congratulate those athletes who were signed and wish them luck in their college careers.
