Paven and Lenzy win 400m at Hayward Field

Tigard’s track teams continue to impress. This last weekend at the OSAA 6A State Tournament at Hayward Field in Eugene, OR, two individuals, sophomores Braden Lenzy and Lauren Paven, placed first in the 400m and the girl’s and boy’s teams finished fourth overall.

Sophomore Braden Lenzy won the 400 meters in a time of 48.38. He finished fourth in the 200m in 21.88 as well. In addition to being a speedy track star, Lenzy has previously gotten unofficial offers to play football with the University of Oregon.

The second Tigard athlete who achieved an incredible accomplishment was sophomore Lauren Paven. She won the 6A 400-meter state championship on Saturday with a time of 56.24. This is a special success for Paven, because at her freshman year’s state she was disqualified after winning the state title for stepping on the edge on her line. This has been a disappointment that made her train harder this year. Like Lenzy she also did well in the 200m placing third in a time of 25.08.
